PTC
Baseline Analysis Gets Rolling
For Release:
August 30, 2000
The PTC
is currently conducting a two-level Baseline Analysis Survey.
The survey will poll both individual commuters, and employers
(>100 employees) in the Central
Perimeter area. The research is designed to determine
current travel behavior, attitudes and willingness to consider
a variety of transportation alternatives, and the programs
that are currently being used by area employers. These instruments
can be reused every three to five years for the purpose of
measuring program results and refining the mission, goals
and objectives for the program.
Particular
detail has been given to maximizing the statistical validity
of the research effort while minimizing the cost. The methodology
is consistent with that used by other Transportation
Management Associations around the country including the
Cumberland Transportation Network here in Atlanta.
Project
Purpose
- Determine
current commuter travel behavior, willingness to change
travel behavior, awareness of travel
alternatives and programs available in the Central Perimeter,
and general demographic information.
- Determine
current employer awareness of commuter needs and services
and their willingness to offer certain strategies and ideas
for transportation assistance.
- Combine
the information from both surveys, review current and proposed
PTC activities and make changes where appropriate.
Estimated
Budget
The project
will take a total of eighteen months and cost a total of $36,000,
which has been provided by the Perimeter
Community Improvement District. The PTC has contracted
with Stuart Anderson of Urban and Transportation Consulting
to conduct the Baseline Survey. Results of the project should
be ready for public delivery in late Fall 2000.
