The
PTC Vanpool Program
Vanpools
provide the Perimeter one of its best tool in addressing traffic
congestion. For every vanpool formed, 10-14 cars are removed
from the road. The
PTC works closely with vanpool providers and employers to
set up programs at specific worksites to help relieve the
stress of the commute, parking construction costs, and more.
- Fare:
$70 + your share of gas
- Drivers
enjoy van use over the weekends
- PTC
helps defray the cost of gas by providing $50 and $150 monthly
gas cards depending on the number of riders
- Vanpool
Q&A
A vanpool
is a group of 7-15 commuters who share a ride. Vans are leased
from a private vanpool provider. One member of the group volunteers
to be the primary driver and then at least one other volunteers
to be an alternate driver.
REGIONAL
SUBSIDIES: Douglas and Cherokee County each provide
a vanpool subsidy and a free gas card for residents who qualify.

HEALTH
BENEFITS: Commuting by vanpool is also good on your
nerves. You can read, sleep, or catch up on some work- while
someone else drives using HOV
lanes when appropriate, and you will arrive at work and home
without the stress that normally accompanies your trips in
rush hour traffic.
VANPOOL
FORMATION 101
- We
do database research to help you find vanpool partners,
Our database looks for other interested commuters that are
within a 4-mile radius of your home address and a 1-mile
radius of your place of employment.
- PTC
also works with Perimeter employers conducting Lunch 'n
Learns, Meet your Match and Zipcode parties to make it easier
to form a vanpool. We'll coordinate with you and bring the
food. Pizza or sandwiches...you choose.
- Once
a core group of 6 or 7 interested employees have been identified,
the PTC will help you get your van on the road! The PTC
is also there to help you if you need a few more riders.
We will work to find new participants and to provide life
support for a few months if necessary. The bottom line is
that you can enter into a vanpool agreement knowing that
the PTC will be your safety net.
