Guaranteed Ride Home Program

The PTC partners with the Atlanta Regional Commission's 1-87-RIDEFIND division to bring you the Guaranteed Ride Home Program (GRH).

With GRH, employees have no fear of being stranded at work on the days they use alternative transportation. In most cases, employees are eligible for a free taxi ride home in the case of an emergency or unexpected overtime.

GRH is a safety net for those who use alternative forms of transportation by giving them the peace of mind when using 'alt' modes of transit.

If you use an alternative form of transportation to get to work and you experience an emergency, inclement weather (for cyclists and walkers), or mandatory unexpected overtime, 1-87-RIDEFIND will pay for your ride home. So make sure you register today, emergencies are unpredictable. Click here for registration.

BENEFITS:

  • No restrictions on how far from your place of work
  • One-stop is available if you need it - Ex. If you are at work and your child gets sick at school then you can pick your child up on your way home.
  • The GRH Program allows individuals to rideshare, bicycle, walk, or take transit worry-free.
  • And best of all, it's free!

PROGRAM SPECIFICS FOR USING GRH:

Valid Reasons

1. When an employee becomes ill at work and needs to go home.
2. When an ill family member requires an employee's assistance.
3. When an employee has a personal crisis that prior planning could not have prevented.
4. When the driver of a carpool or vanpool leaves work early and is unable to fulfill the obligation of the carpool.

5. When employees are unexpectedly requested by their supervisor to work past the regular quitting time ("unexpected" is defined as not knowing before that morning).
6. When cyclists or walkers are unable to bike or walk home due to extreme inclement weather.

Invalid Reasons

1. When an employee needs to run a personal errand.
2. When an employee has a pre-planned medical appointment.
3. When an employee works late not by the request of their supervisor.
4. When their vehicle is not running properly.

HOW WILL MY INFORMATION BE USED?

This database is private and used specifically for ridematching and GRH purposes only. Your contact information will not be shared with any outside marketing organizations.

Once you are in this database you will receive a welcome letter from 1-87-RIDEFIND. It will identify any potential ridematch partners for you, and list them in the letter.

You will also receive a GRH card, identifying your company (or PTC) and your GRH registration number. Be aware that you will not be eligible to use the service unless you register in this database.

How do I go about obtaining a free taxi ride home?

  • Company/Property On-site GRH Admin
    • Contact the administrator listed on your GRH Card to obtain a transportation voucher to give to the taxi driver that the administrator has called to pick you up.
  • No On-site GRH Admin
    • Call the PTC at 770-394-4540 during the hours of 9am and 5pm to obtain a transportation voucher and authorization to receive a free taxi ride home. PTC calls the taxi company for you and provide you with a voucher, either via fax or email. If a hard copy is necessary, arrangements will be made at that time.
  • After Hours
    • If you need a taxi ride outside of the hours of 9am and 5pm and meet ALL the necessary criteria, you may be able to be reimbursed for your ride home. In this instance, call Style Taxi at 404-522-8294 and arrange for a ride home. To receive reimbursement, send a copy of your trip receipt with your GRH number and contact information, as well as a valid reason for needing a ride home to the PTC within one week of your taxi ride home.

PLEASE NOTE: Remember to call PTC or 1-87 RIDEFIND if your mode of transpotaion changes. You can also use the service to update your information if it has changed.

Do people cheat and take advantage of this program?

Actually, abuse of the program is minimal. An employee is limited to five free rides per year so they're usually only used in real emergencies as necessary. Most people see the program for what it is --- a safety net to be used only in a true emergency. However, the PTC would obviously be suspicious if the same employee uses the service once a week within in a month's time, or if one company uses it everyday.
